The Naming Ourselves Projects are a living archive and storytelling series that features the journeys and personal recounts of trans*, nonbinary, two-spirit, & gender expansive folks. These collaborative projects are centered on the act of choosing a name for oneself as a significant milestone many, not all, in our community experience in their journey to themselves. The projects and ever growing archive exists to preserve and highlight our own sacred stories as they are pivotal to education, liberation and, more crucially, a radical shift towards a more queer and gender expansive future.
If this project is of interest to you and you’d like to collaborate as a featured participant or co-collaborator, please complete this form or contact me here.
The main focus of their photography lies on discovering a sense of place through nature, people and identity and documenting histories at risk of suppression, discardment, and erasure. They are interested in how notions of place and landscape overlap, complicate, and work with(in) and with(out) our ever shifting identities as human beings.
